Peru are in a good position ahead of the final two matches in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign from the South American region. Peru head into the final two matches in fifth spot which would be enough to qualify for the inter-confederation playoffs. An automatic spot is still a possibility for the Peruvians, but they have to finish in fourth spot at least to make this happen.

The first four teams in the South American region for the Qatar 2022 World Cup will qualify for the tournament automatically without having to go through the inter-confederation playoffs. The fifth team will have to navigate the inter-confederation playoffs to get to the Qatar 2022 tournament.

Peru head into the last two qualifiers with a four-game unbeaten run in the qualifiers. The Peruvians have not lost in the qualifiers since they were beaten 1-0 at the home of Argentina in October. They have a record of three wins and one draw from those four games on the back of the loss to Argentina with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez getting the only goal of the match a few minutes before the interval. Peru thrashed Bolivia 3-0 at home in the first of the four games before they secured a 2-1 win at Venezuela. Afterwards, they beat Colombia 1-0 away from home before playing out a 1-1 draw with Ecuador at home.

The Peruvians are one point off Uruguay in fourth spot and four points off Ecuador in third spot ahead of the final two qualifiers. They still have to watch the teams below them with Chile two points adrift in sixth place and Colombia are four points adrift of the Peruvians in seventh place.

Peru will face hosts Uruguay in the first of their remaining two games in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers from the South American region before they taking on Paraguay at home in their last match. Peru will qualify automatically for Qatar 2022 with two wins from the two games.
